The Day After ……………..

The morning after Sammy and Andrew’s wedding brought a serious head-to-head clash of titanic proportions between both gathered sides of the families. The Fittons and the Marshalls fought out a twenty two over cricket match in the grounds of the wedding venue Belmount Hall at Hawkshead. In humid conditions Sammy won the toss and elected to bowl. A thrilling runout from Rob’s direct throw from cover saw a premature end to starman Paul’s innings for the Marshalls. Tight bowling kept the runrate down to a reasonable and gettable five an over. Ken was getting some movement from the cesspit end while Hope bambozzled the batsmen with her mix of googlies, chinamen and the odd dursa from the road end. All in all a heroic bowling and fielding  performance from the Fittons saw the Marshalls bowled out for a modest total of 79 well within the reach of the fearsome Fittons. But oh dear – faced with some fiery bowling in a swinging atmosphere we experienced an old England type collapse. Wickets kept tumbling and superb bowling from the Archbishop and his flock restricted us to a pitable total of 40 at the end of our allotted overs. Andrew the captain of the Marshalls was duly awarded the trophy and displayed it proudly to the watching hordes. Oh and I nearly forgot – we (or at least some of us) were in fancy dress!

Left with the use of my left arm/hand only, after a serious motor cycle accident in 2005, I am learning to adapt to life with a brachial plexus injury and have developed a style of playing guitar using open tunings. I love drawing, painting and generally messing around in a fairly loose fashion. Can't describe myself as an artist, but perhaps a doodler with intent.
